About Us

Thomas Holder created Thomas L. Holder Inc in April 1987. Several months earlier he had purchased an IBM AT computer, AutoCAD version 1.8 and an Ioline plotter. The first office was a 200 square foot "hole in the wall" in Downingtown. Over time the drafting and machine design grew, the customer list grew, number of employees grew and the office location moved several times.

In 1996 the assets of Thomas L. Holder Inc were sold to McGuckin & Pyle Inc. a custom machine builder in Downingtown and a major client of Thomas L. Holder Inc. Mr. Holder retained the corporation name. Mr. Holder worked as engineering manager for McGuckin & Pyle for 12 years. During those two experiences Mr. Holder designed or oversaw the design of hundreds of machine design projects from single parts to entire production lines. He continued learning the intimacies of machine processes, fabrication methods etc. Also, during his tenure at McGuckin & Pyle he, along with the mainstream machine design community, gravitated to 3D modeling.

In June of 2008 Mr. Holder resurrected Thomas L. Holder Inc, resigned from McGuckin & Pyle and opened a new office at the current location doing SolidWorks machine design and associated engineering services.
